GRNC was first approved as an official Regional Club of the Newfoundland Club of America in 1971 with the purpose of conducting activities to further the welfare of the Newfoundland breed. Since then, we have had meetings, programs, and a variety of events on a regular basis. Some of the events that GRNC has sponsored are Regionals, Water Seminars at Cazenovia Lake, Draft Tests, Water Tests, Match Shows. Through cooperation, the NCA and its Regional Clubs make greater contributions to the Newfoundland breed and fancy than each can individually.
The Genesee Region includes a broad area from East of Rochester to Utica, and from the Pennsylvania to the Canadian border. This includes the following counties of New York State: Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne and Yates.
